Our Appraisal Process
A typical jewelry appraisal for insurance or personal valuation generally follows these steps. Complex assignments, such as estate or tax-related appraisals, may require additional time and steps.
Bring Relevant Documents – Please bring any grading reports, previous appraisals, receipts, or other documentation to help inform the appraisal.
Preliminary Review & Fee Estimate – A brief initial examination is conducted, and a fee estimate is provided. You approve any changes if additional research or testing is required.
Service Agreement & Documentation – We complete the Service Agreement, note any condition issues, and photograph and describe your jewelry.
Jewelry Cleaning – Each piece is thoroughly cleaned using professional tools to ensure accurate evaluation.
Detailed Examination – Metals and stones are tested; stones are measured, graded for color, clarity, and cut; center diamonds may be photomicrographed or plotted; digital photography is taken from multiple angles.
Jewelry Return & Payment – You may pick up your jewelry after the examination. We aim to return pieces promptly and securely.
Final Report – After research and analysis, the final PDF appraisal report is emailed. Timing depends on assignment complexity but is completed as efficiently as possible.
